It gives me great pleasure to welcome you, on behalf of the National Security Authority of the Republic of Hungary (NSA), to our homepage. The primary goal of this website is to provide state organs and businesses with timely and in-depth information that can be accessed in an efficient manner. I also view this website as a useful tool for presenting our work to the public.

The NSA is the Government Authority of Hungary with ultimate responsibility for the protection of national and foreign classified information within our country. The NSA was founded in 1998, on the eve of Hungary’s accession to NATO. At the beginning, we were dealing with the implementation of the security regulations on safeguarding classified information in compliance with the NATO, and from 2003, with the EU standards. We have been actively participating in the work of the various NATO and European Union bodies.

Year 2009 was an important milestone in the life of the NSA. The Parliament of Hungary adopted Act No. CLV. of 2009. on the protection of classified information, which entered into force on April 1, 2010. Not only did this new law bestow the NSA with the responsibility for the protection of national classified information, but thoroughly overhauled the structure of the protection of classified information in Hungary.
